Why start a blog at all?!
The short answer is: To share something with others.
This is not a big fishing tackle company, nor even a small one. I’m just a fishing enthusiast—not an expert, but an enthusiast. And that is the key here: I want to share my enthusiasm about lure fishing with you!
A bit of background
I’m not entirely sure, but I think I was less than ten years old when I caught my first fish—definitely a proud moment in the history of fishing blunders! Picture this: I fished out of a well in my grandmother’s garden, armed with her crochet line (because why not?), a bent pin as my high-tech hook, and bread for bait. The grand prize? An orange Carassius auratus—a fancy name for a decorative fish that probably wondered how it ended up on the wrong side of the well! And thus began my illustrious journey into the world of fishing mishaps!
I fished many times during my teenage years, mostly in the summer holidays when boredom hit harder than a fish on a line. I never really bothered to develop my skills as an angler; it was all pretty straightforward. Any rod would do—just grab one that looked vaguely like a fishing pole, slap on some line, a float, and hook up with maggots or worms for bait. Occasionally, I’d whip up some ground bait concocted from chicken meal and aniseed liquor because who wouldn’t want their catch to be well-seasoned?
But then I stopped. Life gets in the way, and university, and work, and marriage, and kids…
And it all started again because of my kids. One summer holiday it ocurred to me that it was the perfect time to introduce them to fishing and start building up some beautiful memories. My boys were then six and ten. We had so much fun that day, that today years later, we still talk about it and laugh.
Today, fishing is part of my life again. And it’s not just when I’m at the riverbank casting my lures; even when I’m at home, I’m always thinking and tinkering with it. I’m so passionate about it that I decided to share all of this with you, hoping that it will bring you at least as much joy as it brings me.
