Premium Trout Series
I make these trout colours in small batches, with layered colour recipes and individual hand finishing. Each lure goes through several stages, from mixing the laminate colours to the final clear dip.
I build the laminate colours with iridescent mica powders, colour-shifting powders and carefully chosen glitter blends to capture the sheen and spotting of trout.
Once each lure comes out of the mould, I brush on mica powders by hand, glue on the eyes, then clear-dip it in premium-quality transparent soft plastic. That final coat gives the colourwork a clear, bright finish.
Steel Rose has an extra hand-poured stage. I pour the pink stripe into the mould first, then inject the two laminate colours. After demoulding, it receives the same brush-applied mica finish, glued eyes and clear dip.
The colours
- Stockie: inspired by stocked brown trout.
- Colne Gold: inspired by wild brown trout from the River Colne.
- Steel Rose: a rainbow trout pattern with a hand-poured pink stripe.
Choose your lure
Select the lure and size, then your trout colour. The series includes Scrapper 14.2 cm, Scrapper 19.2 cm and Mega WhipTail 19.2 cm. Available colour combinations depend on the current batch.
Pack quantity: 1 lure. Hooks and rigging sold separately.
Every lure is finished by hand, so small differences in the colourwork are part of each one.
Fishing and rigging
How to fish it: Let the lure sink to your chosen starting depth, then use a straight retrieve with pauses and changes of speed.
Rigging: Use a screw head and stinger. For my triple-swivel setup, use a #1 or 1/0 treble on Scrapper 14.2 cm, or a 1/0 treble on the 19.2 cm lures. Screw-head weights: 5, 7, 10 or 15 g, selected for the depth and conditions.
