The Slug Shot 10.2cm: The Dropshot Specialist
The Slug Shot 10.2cm is a slim-profile finesse bait with a segmented slug-like body that tapers down before flaring into a bulbous, weighted tail section. At 102mm, it sits perfectly in the crossover zone — finesse enough to fool pressured canal perch, but with enough presence to draw zander and pike on deeper venues.
Engineered Action
The Slug Shot’s secret is in that club tail. The body narrows before the tail swells out, creating a hinge point that quivers and shakes with the slightest rod input. On a dropshot, it pulses on the spot like a dying baitfish — twitching, rocking, and transmitting micro-vibrations without moving an inch. The ribbed body adds texture and water displacement, while the fat tail section kicks and wobbles on the fall, giving the lure a slow, seductive descent that predators track and commit to.
Pro-Tactics & Presentation:
Dropshotting: This is where the Slug Shot lives. Nose-hook it and let it hang horizontally in the water column — the hinged tail quivers with the smallest twitch. Deadly over structure, along lock walls, and in deep canal basins where fish hold tight to the bottom.
Ned Rig: Thread it on a mushroom jig head and let it stand up off the bottom. The bulbous tail waves and pulses, drawing curious perch and chub in for a closer look — and a bite.
Wacky Rig: Hook it through the pinch point and let it sink with that irresistible fluttering wobble. The unbalanced profile creates an erratic fall that zander and perch find very hard to refuse.
The Maverick Difference
Unlike mass-produced factory lures, every Slug Shot is individually hand-made in the UK. Our colours are specifically mixed for UK water conditions — from the murky “tea” of city canals to the crystal-clear pits of the South East.
Note: Due to the bespoke, hand-finished nature of our lures, slight variations in colour and finish may occur between batches.
